Howling Squirrel Brewing

Hop-forward experimental beers from a Dutch home brewery

FOR THE LOVE OF HOP

Hop (Humulus lupulus) comes in many varieties with a wide range of aromas. With my beers I explore the potential to unlock  (at least to me) new flavour combinations.

CARE TO SHARE

Inspired by amazing craft brewers around the world, I combine recipes of traditional and novel beer styles. The outcomes I share with those who dare.

THE SCIENCE BASE

Brewing combines the science of molecules and microbes. I am fascinated  by all the processes that are involved in extracing flavours from malts, yeast and hops.

MY BREWERY

Welcome to my brewery! This is my modest 'home lab' for experimental brewing of American and New Zealand inspired beers. It is (still) a home brewery, but I am hopeful bringing some small batches of speciality beers to the market, and organizing small scale workshops, to further share the wonders of brewing and the beauty of beers.

Beer styles that I typically brew include:

- Hoppy styles: IPA, Double/Imperial IPA and NEIPA

- Belgium strong ale: Tripel

- Dark styles:  Black IPA/Cascadian Dark Ale, American Stout, Pastry Stout, and Baltic Porter

- Other: Zero/low ABV, additions incl. coconut, hazelnuts, vanilla, and (Whisky infused) wood chips
